Thank you all for your concern for Lola. Some have suggested that we do more than just pray for Lola. We absolutely agree. In fact, the reason we are there is to combine our prayers with practical hands-on help. Sometimes we're able to do so in a dramatic way (for an example, see this blog describing how one of our teams helped one of the bar girls escape).
That is why we partner with the Tamar Center, a ministry that in fact helps girls get out of the sex trade and back to a safe and normal life. In so doing, our teams not only ensure practical followup, but grow in their capacity to actually make a difference themselves.
If you would like to know more about the long-term care opportunities that girls like Lola have, please read about the Tamar Center.
We are committed to the proposition that people like Lola deserve intervention and justice. Sometimes we may feel ineffectual, but we partner with those whose track record of care is solid. They know the bar girls like Lola personally and will continue to meet with them and advocate for them. They do this at personal risk and sacrifice. They deserve our encouragement and support. We will continue to post updates on this story here.

Adventures In Missions
There are a set of parents in the Ukraine right now
wondering where there beautiful daughter is.
Wondering if she is alive or dead. They probably lose sleep at night, and pray to God that their baby girl is ok...
I KNOW where she is. Her name is Lola. She is only nineteen years old. I have talked to her. She has been trafficked to Pattaya, Thailand. She is not ok!
She works for this cabaret pictured below:
She has only been here for three months, and she thinks she gets to leave in
three more months when she has made enough money to pay off her debt and
go home. She rooms with girls from Russia, Moldova, and Ukraine. When we
asked her if she ever gets to leave that building and go anywhere in town, she
laughed and said, "Outside? No!"
When I turned to walk away I couldn't breath. All I could do was cry on a
teammates shoulder. I didn't want to take another step without Lola with me. I
wanted to tell her to runaway and come with us.
The only thing I could physically do for Lola that night was write her a note
and PRAY God spoke to her through it. This is basically what it said:
Lola-
I hope you get to go home to your family in three months! I will never forget you. If you Ever have a
day that seems to hard remember I am praying for you, and that there is a God who loves you as
his beautiful daughter. If you ever need him, he will hear your Voice.
Your sister from America-
Jordan
After this five of us went to the Tamar Center (our ministry contact) to have an all night prayer session in their four-story building in the middle of all these bars and clubs. The following is what I wrote in my journal last night:
December 22, 2009
"I feel like I just began a fight in a ring, and tonight (Lola) was Satan's first punch. He got a good hit
in to my face! But He's going to wish he knocked me out!"
"This problem is too big, impossible to kill....FALSE! This problem is too big FOR ME, but not for my God!"
"There is no way to rescue these girls physically...FALSE! My God gave me a hart for them THEREFORE,
he has a plan to get them out. I just have to pursue him for the revealing of that plan."
"I can't pick and choose which parts/people I want to love like Christ does. I cant want the trafficked
freed (physically, spiritually) and not the men who 'own' them....I either want All of them or None of
Love you so much, Jordan!!! You are amazing. Mom

Never stop fighting to bring the Kingdom, sister.
Never stop proclaiming liberty to the captives.
Our Lord will come and complete it, but the beauty is found in working for it while we wait for Him.
And he has not left us alone.

A Personal Testimony.
Not too long ago doubt was creeping into my head about the Lord and then a miracle happened.
Three years ago 100 members of my church were enroute to a bible camp in the Blueridge Mountains of Virginia. They were traveling in a chartered bus. As they sang hymns, Satan was up to his old tricks. You see, the bus driver was an atheist alcoholic socialist and that day he was filling his coffee mug with vodka. As the bus wound up through the switchbacks, the driver became progressively drunker. Then it happened. It was that day that changed this poor sinner's life forever. Entering a particularly tight switchback, the besotted driver finally lost control of the bus and it plummeted 1500 feet down into a ravine where it exploded into a fireball incinerating the flock. The only survivor that fateful day was a young boy who was thrown from the bus by his father seconds before it hit the bottom.
This young boy suffered severe brain damage from hitting a rock head first and will have to wear a football helmet and drool cup for the remainder of his life. But his survival proved to me that miracles do happen because God does exist and loves me. The Lord used that accident to bring me back to his flock.
Hallelujah!
Praise Jesus! Just open your eyes to his miracles and you will see them everywhere.
Yes, maybe they should have done more -- I don't know, because I wasn't there. But now that we all know about Lola (and there are definitely others), we're ALL responsible.
I say that we rally around Jordan and her team and help however we can -- with encouragement, advice, money, and yes, even prayer.
Who's willing to help?
And who just wants to criticize to make themselves feel better?
I told him Jesus would be by his side always and entered into a prayer for his well-being. The man was actually quite rude about my efforts to save him. "No...please..." he groaned. I prayed that Jesus would give him the strength to recover, and with all my heart and a tear in my eye I begged the Lord to spare the awful fellow. "I need...you..." he kept interrupting me. Rude rude rude! My mother always told me that you should always let someone finish what they are saying, especially when that someone is seeking salvation for you. I finished the prayer and blessed him, then left him there.
To this day I am certain that the good Lord helped him out of that situation and that he perseveres to this day. May God bless you all.
My one comment to everybody leaving negative comments: what are you doing about situations like Lola's? Leaving negative comments on someone's blog who's doing the best that they can to make a difference is pretty cowardly. Grow the heck up.
I've followed your blogs - you've helped feed and care for orphans and the needy in Guatemala and Nicaragua; now you're trying to make a difference in Thailand. Thanks for trying your hand at what most of the responders here are afraid to do - namely get involved....
I believe in you!!!
Jordan, God bless you. Keep praying. If God prompts you to further action, obey Him. I'm on your team. If God started something in you, He'll be faithful to complete it. Maybe there is something more He's calling you to do. But that is between you and Him. Not between you and critics on the internet. God bless you - He's working on you and on me, too.
"…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective" (James 5:16).
And I saw the heart of God in the last part of your journal entry! He wants our hearts to break for the people who are the owners and pimps. God has given me that revelation before too. We should be praying for them as well! Who knows, maybe even some day God will change their hearts and the owners/pimps will be the ones helping free the girls!!! SPiritual break through...
Also. I pray against discouragement in Jesus Name. I pray against this negativity and the blinders that satan has placed on certain people's eyes pertaining to this situation and the power of prayer. God is big. Bigger than the powers of darkness, and He is a God who loves and listens to our prayers. Prayer is spiritual warfare!! Lord I pray life into this situation, I pray encouragement into Jordan and into her group and into the lives of the girls who are being Traffiked. and I pray this all in Your powerful name Jesus. Amen!
The authorities are corrupt. They're just as likely to abuse her as her current captors. This is not a war against flesh and blood...it's an afront on the soul. The problem is way bigger than your two hands.
So this is why we pray. Some may suggest that prayer is meaningless, but it is the only real weapon in this battle. Prayer is a sword, the only sword to wield in this type of a battle.
To those who would belittle prayer, your sword is rusty. You haven't taken care of it, nobody ever taught you how to wield it in the first place and you discount it like a pouting child.
Stop sniveling, pick up your sword and learn how it works.

I'm sorry to read some of the comments above. It's hard trying to paint a picture of a place where the authorities do nothing for fear of compromising the multiple-billion dollar sex industry. Where a girl who has no rights, no legal papers and no language skills would be hunted or even killed if she tried to leave. Nor of the great people who are trying to actually make a dent in the horrible atrocity that is human trafficking. I'm sorry people don't understand the delicate nature of your role and how what you did that night is a contribution to what freedom might really mean for Lola (giving her the idea that she may not be as helpless as she
might think).
Keep it up and stay close to the Father.
From the Church in Wichita, KS, USA,
Peace to you in Christ Jesus, who by the Creator's power defeated death for the redemption of all creation. We have heard of your plight and as one Body united in Christ we share your burden and suffer together the afflictions in your heart. We share also the perfect hope that the Kingdom has grown through your witness.
What pronouncement can death make over the Eternal? For Death, a creature herself, is subject to that which Creates. And they who would speak death over those given New Life-- what of consequence could they say? Dead men cannot speak into this world, but the living, dear sister, have every authority to speak into this world that which has been given them to speak. Do not cow to death, do not lower the banner of the Kingdom to dead men.
Your proclamations glorify God and the work he will do in his own time. Accusers will tempt you to rely on your pride, your selfish effort to effect change on this world, but redemption is God's. You are a beacon of Christ's light in the pervasive darkness. The darkness will tell you that your flame is extinguished, or impotent, all the while retreating from that bright light emanating from you. Have no fear for God's sovereignty over this world, nor shame for the work that you do.
God has made you in particular known to us. We will continue to pray for you and consider your work in our meditations. Your joy and sorrow are not your own, but belong to the whole body of Christ and we joyfully walk with you in this journey.
Peace to you,
Michael Barrett
a. look at what we have ever done for others in similar situations... be honest.
b. look at the thing positively instead of with the whole "I'm a former christian/atheist/science-nerd who can cynically take shots because my friends and I understand everything about religious people"
- Jordan - after having said that - do you think there is something we could do (apart from praying) for the girl? Who knows if they'll let her out. I honestly don't know which group could get something done, but with calls and a bit of info., I bet that something might happen...? (I attached my email)
I'm an atheist, as are many of the commenters here, and I'm dismayed by their reactions here. As an atheist, I agree with the general sentiment, that prayer is unhelpful.
However, I don't agree with their bashing of you or your beliefs, particularly considering that you *are* out there in the world trying to do good for your fellow human beings.
If I were a praying woman, I would pray that these close-minding, hypocritical, and childish commenters do not discourage you from helping others, or color your view of us non-believers.
